A Very Fine Antique American Classical Empire 2 Drawer Writing Table, New York, Circa 1820's. Probably made in the New York City area Circa 1820's. 2 Dovetailed Drawers, with a lift lid to reveal a writing surface that can tilt up.
The left are right sides are compartmented for ink wells, pens, and other writing implements. The pedestal is the real star of the show! A Acanthus carved pedestal, with carved claw feet. Old historic finished surface, the top section may have been varnished over the original surface, but the base bears the original finish on the pedestal and claw feet. The brass hardware were replaced about 100 years ago.
Size: 23" wide, 17 1/2" deep, and 32 tall. Condition: Minor surface wear, and old shrinkage cracks to some of the veneer on the top, and sides. Otherwise very good preserved condition.
